Flexible, Category-Based Filtering with iGuard Internet filtering software

The purpose of Internet filtering software is to identify and block dangerous sites. There are various methods of doing this, either by identifying the page text or identifying the site. iPrism Internet filtering software does both; through the iGuard database, iPrism Internet filtering software is configured by accurately classifying individual URLs according to the content and context of the site, then configuring blocking based on the categories of sites allowed. iGuard’s category-based Internet filtering provides unparalleled precision for two reasons:
  • Human-reviewed accuracy on identifying what a page is about
  • Fine-grained control on what kind of content is blocked, down to individual pages in a site
Internet filtering software can control access through identifying page content through keyword scanning and image recognition (to catch obscene images on otherwise keyword-light sites). Alternatively, Internet filtering software can try to block dangerous sites, which can be user-defined (blacklists by IP addresses or domains) or databases of known sites. software can define “offensive” content differently. Content can just be misidentified or missed altogether. Frequently, these kinds of Internet filtering software lack flexibility; for example, a single IP address could host multiple sites; blocking the IP blocks all sites, regardless of content. Internet filtering software requires constant updates and reconfiguration to try to maintain Internet filtering as new threats emerge.

iPrism Internet filtering software uses innovative Internet filtering that allows user-defined profiles to set what type of site is allowed. iGuard has 63 categories of sites, from Spyware and Adult Themes to Finance and Web Search. The individual URLs are classified by context-based keywords, then are reviewed by humans for accuracy. Administrators and human resources personnel have complete control over what is allowed or blocked. iGuard Internet filtering classifications are done per page, and only URLs, not whole sites, are blocked. This allows much greater flexibility for the Internet filtering software package, which tends to makes it more user-friendly. A site can still be accessed, even if one page is blocked. iPrism top Internet filtering software and iGuard provides a more comprehensive protection solution than any other top Internet filtering software:
  • Easy configuration through a straightforward interface
  • Human review of every single URL in the database
  • Automatic updates to the databases, as frequently as every hour, with no interruption to filtering
  • No bias from Internet filtering software criteria
  • No need to reconfigure Internet filtering, even when new sites come online
